Suppliers confident after ‘Meet the Buyers' event
Published:  01 April, 2008

UK garden and leisure product suppliers are confident of new export orders following the Gardenex "Meet the Buyers" event.

Ninety individual business-generating meetings were held between British suppliers of garden, leisure and pet products and leading buyers from Finland, Germany, Italy and The Netherlands during a one-day event organised by Gardenex in Birmingham on February 21st.

The one-to-one meetings were heralded a success by the suppliers and buyers, and as with previous "Meet the Buyers" events held by the federation, the event created significant export business opportunities for the British participants.

Twenty suppliers of garden products attended the event, and these were joined by 18 pet product companies. Four of the UK suppliers met with both garden and pet product buyers.

The format for the day was given a "thumbs-up" by the suppliers, who were appreciative of the opportunity to spend uninterrupted time with key buyers, and many of them left the meetings with high hopes of resultant export sales.

Their expectations have been confirmed by the buyers from each country who have stated that they will be either placing direct orders with the UK companies they met or following up with further negotiations.

All of the buyers commented favourably on the value of seeing so many new products and packaging under one roof and being presented with the opportunity of discussing potential new business opportunities with so many suppliers in one day.
