Spear & Jackson's Archer gets straight to the point
Published:  20 October, 2008

Spear & Jackson - the UK's leading manufacturer of builders' tools and gardening equipment - has made an important senior appointment with the promotion of Ian Archer to Sales & Marketing Director. Ian, currently Export Director, will incorporate his existing responsibilities into his new role.

A Spear & Jackson veteran of 17 years, Ian, 40, has a huge wealth of knowledge and experience of the tool trade; and will be active in consolidating the company's existing relationships and creating new sales and distribution opportunities for its brands within the UK and overseas. Ian's in-depth insights, and the evolution of the national and international distribution environment, make him extremely well-placed to further enhance Spear & Jackson's market leadership in tools and garden.

Married with three children and an ardent Blades (Sheffield United) fan, Ian comments on his new position and the opportunities for Spear & Jackson: "I'm tremendously excited by what our business is doing. The company has a significant pedigree in its sector - as well as the energy and innovations to identify and exploit new market opportunities for its products; and my new role a hugely exciting challenge.

I'm looking forward to utilising my knowledge and experience to help us meet all market requirements - home and abroad. While the traditional tool environment is and will always be important, we also have to accept that the internet, large independents, the merchants and the sheds are all shaping the market in different ways too.

Spear & Jackson is well-set to provide a ‘top to bottom' offer - in service and products - and I can't wait to help it further develop its current success and huge potential".
