Gardeners are being encouraged to "go green" by using recycled rubber garden chippings to help the environment during a UK shortage of wood chippings.
Whilst the bio-fuels industry continues to burn tonnes of wood and bark chippings in a bid to create greener fuel, this has led to a shortfall in supply to garden centres and a price increase of bark chippings.
Recycling experts Dunweedin' provide a gardening solution, which lasts ten times longer than bark chippings and is made from 100 per cent recycled tyres, to be used as landscaping and playground chippings.
Dunweedin's Bob Jones said: "With the increase in wood chippings being used as a bio-fuel we are seeing a huge drop in the availability of wood and bark chippings for landscaping, as well as a rise in prices.
"Dunweedin's recycled chippings offer a perfect alternative for environmentally-conscious gardeners who want to have beautiful gardens on budget."
The recycling company has also launched a "value" version at one third cheaper than its premium chippings, which means families can still care for the outdoor space in an eco-friendly way during the credit crunch.
Dunweedin' has also developed a value range of its playground chippings, which is perfect for adding extra bounce to lively play areas at home and school, so children can play out all year what ever the weather.
