Weather fails to dampen DIY enthusiasm
Published:  01 February, 2008

Around 2,479 visitors braved the elements to attend the DIY & Garden Show and Totally Tools at Earls Court in London. Although more visitors attended the shows in 2007, Brintex is pleased to report that a record number of key buyers made it to Earls Court 2.

James Murray, exhibition director, commented: "We're not disappointed, we've pulled in a high quality audience and good business has been done and will be done following the show. Exhibitions continue to be a time efficient way to generate leads - our visitors this year included buyers from across the industry including hardware independents and major multiples, and some major grocery store buyers."

The show enjoyed some real high points; the new "Sales Improvement" sessions were well received, with visitors joining in with group discussions after each session; some exhibitors (Olympia Tools, Feed ‘n' Leave and Waspinator) enjoyed a moment of fame on Monday as their products appeared on ITV's This Morning with TV presenter David Domoney. His production company runs the shows' New Products LIVE demonstration theatre and he worked with the show team to identify suitable candidates for his regular TV slot.

The show's annual New Product Awards, sponsored by Faversham House, were also well received, with the judges singling out some great new products for the industry's attention.

"We have a great looking show and Brintex has bought into this sector for the long-term," declared James Murray. "This is the only UK show that offers direct access to hardware retailers and we will deliver quality buyers for our exhibitors - whatever the weather!"
