With the current pattern of rainfall being very much one of "feast or famine" the need to conserve water for use in the garden has never been more important. Unfortunately stored water, even rainwater, can start to smell after a while and algae can develop. For those who want to take steps to stop this happening AquaHydrotech, manufacturers of a range of eco-friendly pond and water feature products, have introduced Water Butt Fresh to their range for 2008.
Based on naturally occurring beneficial micro-organisms, Water Butt Fresh will reduce the organic matter which can build up in a water butt, encouraging the growth of algae and leading to those unpleasant odours. AquaHydrotech Water Butt Fresh can also be used to treat stored grey water, to neutralise the soap residues which can potentially be damaging to plant life, so that it can be used to water lawns and ornamental borders.
Nicky Saunders of AquaHydrotech says: "We have introduced Water Butt Fresh in response to enquiries received last year. It is a natural extension to our pond and feature range as it utilises AquaHydrotech's core water treatment expertise."
Like all other AquaHydrotech products it can be used in the confidence that it cannot be overdosed and is not harmful to wildlife, pets or humans. It provides a strong link sale opportunity with water butts and will appeal to garden centres focusing on developing chemical-free ranges.
AquaHydrotech Water Butt Fresh retails at £6.95 for 500 ml and will treat an average sized water butt for a full season.
