Red Devils make Santa’s mission possible

The British Army’s Parachute Regiment display team, The Red Devils is accustomed to daredevil displays and spectacles, but coming to the rescue of a stranded Santa? Now that’s a first.

To mark the first Christmas of the rejuvenated Tong Garden Centre following its acquisition earlier this year, Marketing Manager, Jo Dales was tasked with organising a spectacular arrival for Santa to the magical grotto at Tong.

Mrs Dales explained: “We really wanted Santa to arrive at the Grotto by parachute, so we called the Red Devils Freefall Team to see whether they could help!”

Thankfully, the Red Devils team were delighted to help with Tong’s request. Corporal Alex Perry said: “The Red Devils take on all types of challenges and this is one of the more unusual requests, but we were thrilled to help and be part of such an innovative and different experience. We had great fun filming the video and love the outcome.”

Watching the video of Santa’s spectacular arrival is part of the 30 minute Tong Grotto experience that also includes a walk through the winter wonderland, a festive fairytale with Santa and a visit to Santa’s elves’ workshop to choose a gift.

Santa will be in his grotto every day until Christmas Eve. Booking is essential and the cost is £10 per child and free for two accompanying adults. Bookings can be made at the centre or online at www.tonggardencentre.co.uk.

Tong Garden Centre occupies a 17 acre site in Tong village. It is one of Yorkshire’s biggest garden centres with 110,000 square feet of retail space and parking for up to 1,000 cars.
