William Sinclair and J. Arthur Bower’s top Which? trials

It’s important to offer value for money combined with performance – which is why the annual Gardening Which? compost trials are so important. William Sinclair Horticulture, makers of J. Arthur Bower’s and New Horizon brands, has seen its products do well in the performance trials for the second year running. Top of its section was New Horizon Organic and Peat Free Grow Bags, while J. Arthur Bower’s Multi-Purpose Compost was the leading branded product in its league.

The test ranged over 24 composts and was based on seed sowing or growing on seedlings or plug plants.

New Horizon Organic and Peat Free Grow Bag was the Best Performing Peat-Free Compost. It is Gardening Which? recommended product in this category for growing on young plants. Which? said it “performed consistently well” and “performed just as well as a number of the peat-based alternatives”.

Marketing Manager Fiona Carrington said: “We’re delighted with this result. It’s a great reward for everyone involved in the production of both New Horizon and J. Arthur Bower’s.”
