A Garden Metamorphosis; Inspiration on how to make wonderful changes to your garden

gwWe sometimes need to inject a bit of excitement into our gardens, and it can be as simple as a few small design tweaks that make all the difference. There’s no better place to find inspirational ideas on how to use materials and creative planting to give your garden a bit of a boost than at the Metamorphosis Gardens at BBC Gardeners’ World Live sponsored by Lexus, 11-14 June at The NEC.

Metamorphosis ‘A Design Journey’ challenges four designers to be as innovative as possible in the use of a set list of materials. Roger Platts, five times gold medallist at RHS Chelsea Flower Show including Best in Show, remains ambassador for the competition giving the finalists the invaluable opportunity of his mentorship through the process. Organisers are also delighted that Bradstone continue to support the competition, supplying top quality walling, paving and decorative aggregate.

The Show team have now announced the Metamorphosis winners whose gardens will go on to be created at BBC Gardeners’ World Live this June.

Caspian Robertson ’In the Loop’

Perfect for anyone who wishes to enjoy an outdoor space during warm summer evenings away from the hustle and bustle. This garden is inspired by the non-stop, busy nature of everyday life offering a place to relax, reflect and enjoy a moment of peace.

Joan Mulvenna ’A garden for all ages’

Designed with a family in mind, this design shows how a standard backyard can be transformed into a place full of opportunity for a child’s imaginative play, from hopscotch to connecting with nature, whilst easily reverting to that all-important relaxing adult space.

Lucinda Parish ’The Flow Garden’

Created for a suburban setting the design ties in with modern architecture with strong landscaping, water feature and striking planting. The contemporary nature of this garden design uses lines and vistas to draw you in and, once there, allow you to daydream away the hours.

Sid Stratton & Bridget Robinson—’Slow Burn’

Celebrating seasonal variations this garden is a wonderful space to enjoy year round

Celebrating seasonal variations this garden is a wonderful space to enjoy year round, offering up beautiful views from the house through every season. From the fresh colours of spring to a dramatic winter where linear and cuboid structure dominates.

Roger Platts, competition mentor, says

I am delighted to be continuing in my role as mentor for new designers in the Metamorphosis competition at BBC Gardeners’ World Live 2015. The competition challenges designers to consider how a small space may be transformed, utilising the same materials to create very different effects, thus inspiring the visitor with great take home ideas for their own gardens.“

Please join us in congratulating the winners, and come along to support the designers and see their fabulous gardens at BBC Gardeners’ World Live, NEC 11-14 June. For more information and to book tickets visit bbcgardenersworldlive.com
