Bradford garden centre makes dream come true for little girl

A five year old’s dream of becoming Santa’s helper has come true thanks to her local garden centre.

When Birkenshaw Primary School pupil, Lucy Bracewell sent a picture to Tong Garden Centre saying “To Santa and all of yurr reindeers, I love you but I wish I cud be yurr little Santa Lucy helpe”, staff at the centre were only too happy to oblige.

Tong’s Marketing Manager, Jo Dales said: “We were charmed by Lucy’s approach and invited her, and sister, Megan to perform the official opening of the grotto.

“We were delighted that Lucy was able to help us to celebrate the opening of Tong’s very special grotto experience.”

Lucy’s mum, Sarah said: “Just to say a massive thank you to you and all the Staff at Tong Garden Centre. Lucy’s wish has come true and was an amazing experience she will never forget!”

Lucy and her family were the first to go through the grotto experience and witness Santa’s daredevil arrival at Tong that was orchestrated with the Parachute Regiment’s Red Devils.

Santa will be in his grotto every weekend until the end of November and daily during December. The 45 minute grotto experience comprises a walk through the winter wonderland, a festive fairytale with Santa and a visit to Santa’s elves’ workshop to choose a gift. Booking is essential and the cost is £10 per child and free for two accompanying adults. Bookings can be made at the centre or online at www.tonggardencentre.co.uk.

Tong Garden Centre occupies a 17 acre site in Tong village. It is one of Yorkshire’s biggest garden centres with 110,000 square feet of retail space and parking for up to 1,000 cars.
