Un Garreg which means crafted from one stone, combines a dominating rock theme with a canopy of trees and peat-free planting, providing shade over a walkway of cobbles, gravel and slabs. Traditional dry stone walling provides a boundary and a backdrop with two protruding rocks framing a natural oak seating area for airy relaxation. The Vital Earth brand created a new ‘Chelsea Mix’ of peat-free compost especially for the winning garden.
Commenting on the win, John Corcoran, Bord na Móna’s Head of Retail said, “This is tremendous news for everyone. The Un Garreg design is all about natural materials melded together to provide strength, character and perfect relaxation in tune with nature. Vital Earth’s peat-free recycled products are an ideal partner in terms of materials and we are looking forward to launching its award-winning ‘Chelsea Mix’ commercially in due course. Moreover, BNM’s ‘contract with nature’, the company’s wider commitment to working with the world’s natural resources – restoring, nurturing and recycling – matches exactly the ethos of Harry and David’s beautiful and inspiring design. I congratulate them thoroughly on their sensitive yet exciting interpretation.”
