‘LOFAssured’ fire safety campaign launched at Solex

LOFA (Leisure and Outdoor Furniture Association) has launched the new LOFAssured campaign to the association’s members at the Solex exhibition in Birmingham.

The campaign has involved all LOFA members being audited by FIRA (Furniture Industry Research Association) to ensure all outdoor cushions sold by LOFA members comply with the Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations 1988 and 1993.

LOFAssured will be promoted to retailers and consumers from January 2018, helping retailers in their own compliance with government standards and giving buyers a truly safe product.

LOFA has appointed FIRA (Furniture Industry Research Association) and entered into a Primary Authority Partnership with Hertfordshire Trading Standards to aid the members in their quest for full compliance. A designated LOFAssured stand at Solex manned by representatives from FIRA and Hertfordshire Trading Standards officers proved a valuable resource for members and buyers alike.

LOFA secretary Phil Gibbs commented: “This is the job of LOFA as the industry’s trade association – to protect members and their customers. We are making really good progress and are looking forward to kicking off a fantastic 2018 for members and retailers alike.”
