Leading garden timber manufacturer Hillhout has merged with Dutch brand and prominent industry player, Gouderak BV, to create one of the largest garden timber firms in Europe.
The new partnership will be known as the Outdoor Life Group and will see these two prominent firms combine their resources, assets and experience to dominate the market in Europe.
Steve Wain, Head of Sales at Outdoor Life Group (UK) said: “The Hillhout and Gouderak brands will continue to operate as normal and in addition, will benefit from shared resources, distribution channels and industry know how. The Outdoor Life Group will be able to offer products and brands capable of catering for all sectors of the market and suiting all tastes and budgets.”
The Outdoor Life Group -which has a combined sales turnover in excess of ?120m – benefits from having sourcing areas all over the globe from Scandinavia, East and Mid Europe to South East Asia and South America. This multi-sourcing ensures reliable supply and stable quality. This combined with owned production facilities in the Netherlands, Poland, Hungary and more recently Germany ensures complete control over quality, supply and cost prices.
The network of production plants is supplemented with an alert and dependable logistical fleet, which enables rapid distribution from warehouse to garden centres, throughout the whole of Europe.
Steve Wain said: “The merger makes things bigger and better than ever, increasing our capacity to produce and our ability to deliver. The Outdoor Life Group will be one of the biggest producers in Europe and will have the capability in some cases to deliver direct to the end user, which will mean less of a financial burden for our stockists. Our multi-sourcing is beneficial from both a business and environmental perspective, as resources are reliable and high quality and we also do not need to depend heavily on one particular area at time, which could hamper future re-growth in the region.”
