With the festive countdown well and truly started, Squire’s Garden Centres have released their top festive plant picks – perfect as gifts for loved ones or to brighten up any living space both indoor and outdoor.
1. The Jester Red Poinsettia
A truly unique variety that makes its debut into the UK this year! With their rich tones and beautiful star shaped bracts (that actually symbolise the star of Bethlehem) these Poinsettias will make vibrant Christmas table centrepieces and indoor displays to help make the room glow this winter. The traditional red has, of course always been the key colour for Christmas but Squire’s are seeing increasing numbers of customers who incorporate the Poinsettia in coordinated interior styling using a combination of colours. The Jester Red is a particularly sturdy variety of Poinsettia, so its bracts won’t bruise easily when handled. However, be aware that these plants don’t take well to draughts and the harsh winter weather so we’d advise that they’re wrapped up and protected before leaving the shop.
The Jester Red Poinsettia is now available to buy in all Squire’s Garden Centres at a very reasonable price of £6.99 or get 2 for £12 (1litre pot). Or if you want to make a real impression, why not try the 2litre pot for £14.99.
Be different this Christmas – Try Jester!
2. The Squire’s Christmas Wreath
Wreaths have been used as a decorative sign of Christmas for hundreds of years and are a symbol of growth and everlasting life. Christmas Wreaths add the perfect festive finishing touch to your home whether they are hung proudly above the mantle piece or on your front door for all visitors to admire.
This year, Squire’s have introduced an amazing range of contemporary wreaths, all made up of real foliage from the UK. There are 3 new lines available instore all of which have a 10 inch/ 25 cm diameter to give that extra bit of body: The Lime Zest Wreath – £19.99; The Spicy Chocolate Orange Wreath – £26.99;The slightly larger 12 Inch/ 30 cm Premium Festive Fun Wreath – £39.99. All wreaths feature noble fir and a moss backing with a sturdy high quality frame that can be re-used.
3. Indoor Garden Art
“Sometimes it is good to take a fresh look and try something just a little different,” says Sarah Squire, Deputy Chairman at Squire’s Garden Centres. With this in mind Squire’s have introduced an exclusive range of bespoke designs featuring easy to grow, low maintenance house plants but with a twist. They are all planted singly or in groups in stylish pots, vases and even picture frames. The use of wood, ceramics, glass and raffia really compliment and create the perfect stage for plants such as Orchids, Cactai, Peace Lilies, Succulents and Ferns all of which are long lasting so you can enjoy your planted arrangement well into the New Year.
The range is unique and has been designed by the experts at Squire’s to create the ultimate gift for those who are following the shabby chic trend for their home with prices ranging from £8.99 – £69.99.
Gardens can often seem empty during the cold winter months but you don’t have to do without beautiful flowers at this time of year. Hellebores– sometimes known as the Christmas rose – are perennial garden plants with elegant flowers that are perfect for brightening up a dull winter. They are used to low temperatures and easy to maintain.
Treat yourself or a loved one to a Hellebore Wintergold which comes in a rattan basket and is priced at £14.99, available at all Squire’s Garden Centres except Chertsey. It’s the perfect plant to display inside over the Christmas period and then to plant outside in January where they would look stunning in planters or as part of a border.
There’s also the Helleborus Verboom Beauty, priced at £12.99 – an extremely popular plant because of the mass of delicate white flowers, which appear from December.
To top it all off, Squire’s also offers a free gift-wrapping service on any plant £5 and over – making it instantly ready for gifting – and not only does it look attractive but the wrapping also adds some extra protection on the journey home.
