Stagecraft gears up to face market challenges

Since moving from their temporary premises, the company has made a significant investment in state-of-the-art machinery, including a CNC router and saw, as well as employing several new members of staff.

New managing director, Seb Smith anticipates 2014 will provide the business with its best start to any year: with the prospect of securing its largest ever order. In October, Seb took over from founder Tom Davis, who has now taken the role of chairman.

Seb said: “The new factory gives us greater capacity which reflects the changes in the garden centre industry, which has undergone significant consolidation through acquisition and mergers. This means we will be servicing much larger businesses, who will demand more volume. We want to be ready to meet that challenge.”

Stagecraft was originally created as a farm diversification project but is now the UK market leader for the supply and fit-out of display equipment for garden centres and over the last couple of years has secured a growing foothold in the general retail sector.
