Tree-mendous effort by local schools

Squire’s Garden Centres has announced that Long Ditton St Mary’s Junior School has won first prize in its ‘Decorate A Christmas Tree’ competition.

The Year 4 children from Long Ditton St. Mary’s beat two other local schools – Long Ditton Infant School and St Paul’s Junior School – to win the competition. The children had to design their own sparkly tree decorations, and then hang them on a special tree at Squire’s. Customers, friends and family have been voting for their favourite tree in the garden centre over the last week and a half.

Mrs Moody, a teacher at Long Ditton St. Mary’s, said: “The children were so thrilled to decorate the tree at Squire’s, so winning the competition really is the icing on the cake for them.”

Squire’s Long Ditton manager Ann Deadman added: “We were all so impressed with the time and effort that had gone into making such beautiful decorations. It was a pleasure to have all the children at Squire’s and see such enthusiasm for tree decorating! I am delighted to give all the winning children goody bags which are packed full of pre-Christmas treats!”
