Westland and Taylors come to bulb agreement

Edward Conroy, MD of Westland Horticulture said, “This decision has been made in order for Westland to significantly increase its investment and focus in further developing our Unwins seed brand and bird care, lawn care, growing media, controls and fertilisers amongst others. Westland will continue to drive development within the garden sector throughout 2011 with more innovative products than ever.  In order to maintain the extremely high standards of Westland the focus on Unwins products will concentrate on seed, seed potatoes, onions and garlic.”

Adam Taylor, Director of Taylors Bulbs said, “We are delighted to be able to take on the Unwins flower bulb business from Westland.  This move will allow us to deliver garden retailers a stronger and more successful proposition. It will reinforce our position as the UK and Ireland’s leading bulb supplier and the purchase of additional packing equipment will increase our capacity to serve the retail trade. We look forward to building strong relationships with new customers as a result of this acquisition.”

Recently receiving a Which? Gardening Best Buy and Recommended variety for two of the Unwins Gro-sure products highlights why it is important for Unwins to concentrate on its hugely successful seeds.  The focus on Unwins Gro-sure will be highlighted throughout 2011 with the launch of the Gro-sure Challenge, in which consumers will be challenged to achieve fantastic results with the Gro-sure seed range.  Westland are so confident in their Gro-sure seeds that we are offering a money back guarantee for anyone not happy with their end result.
